RACHEL MCFARLANE
Owner, Physiotherapist
Rachel qualified from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2018 with Bsc (HONS) Physiotherapy degree.
Since qualifying, Rachel has worked in the private sector of physiotherapy, providing her services within Ayrshire and Inverclyde in two different clinics. She has taken great experience from previous workplaces, which has allowed her to advance her assessment and treatment skills. She has also worked in the NHS as a locum MSK physiotherapist.
Rachel utilises a variety of hands-on treatment skills, as she appreciates the invaluable experience this has when treating an injury or condition. She is passionate about combining this with tailored rehabilitation programmes, to achieve optimal outcomes for all of her patients.
By continually undertaking professional development modules, peer learning and courses, Rachel ensures that her skills and treatment methods are up-to-date and clinically beneficial.
Alongside her full-time posts, Rachel has experience working with both junior and amateur football teams as a physiotherapist and pitchside first aider. This has allowed her to develop her response to injury and initial injury management skills in an acute environment.

OUR SERVICES
How We Can Help
Providing free physiotherapy to all fishermen and merchant seafarers!
We are delighted to announce that we have partnered with the Seafarers Hospital Society, joining their extensive UK wide physiotherapy network!
Seafarers and fishermen often face extremely challenging conditions, and the physical nature of their professions can result in a high number of work-related injuries. Repetitive strain injuries and musculoskeletal issues are particularly prevalent, often caused by heavy lifting on unsteady surfaces.
Unfortunately, they also face a unique set of challenges in seeking treatment for such injuries, with long periods of time spent at Sea and unpredictable work patterns making it especially difficult for them to access treatment and keep up with regular appointments.
This is why the Seafarers Hospital Society established a UK wide network of chartered physiotherapists, who are trained to provide a holistic and preventative approach to treatment and provide a vital means to help seafarers avoid injuries at work, and keep them fit and healthy to work at sea.
The Physiotherapy Network offers seafarers FREE, fast track treatment, crucial to avoiding long waits for the urgent appointments they need. All costs are covered by the Seafarers Hospital Society, thanks to significant funding from both the Merchant Navy Welfare Board and the Department for Transport.
